NiteShade...
long story short, after atleast a year and a half my taillight covers flew off. ive always wanted to niteshade but kept procrastinating. i didnt get much of a response in the dak section so i thought i would come in here. how many of you have experience with it, and what steps did you use in your process?
i hear prep is key with this, so let me have it, i want it done right. and i figure ill do my cargo lamp too, and i can do that first as "practice"

ok guys, here is the deal. i know its not a ram, but noone really answered me. im only posting in case anyone else is thinking about doing it. you can order VHT NiteShade online. ive seen it from 11-14 dollars per can plus shipping. i ordered 2 cans but i knew i would apply it thick and do both tails along with the cargo lamp.
process
i cleaned with alcohol and then scuffed everything up real good with 400 grit sandpaper (wetsanded)
i applied a few light to medium coats
i lightly wetsanded again
i applied a few more light to medium coats
i lightly wetsanded again
then i applied the final coat of clear
total i had 7 coats, 4 of them were niteshade and 3 of them were clear. i thought about sanding the final product with 1000 grit but then i decided against it thinking the product looked good enough. honestly, i think it looks better than my covers ever did, and i have been putting off trying niteshade out for the past 4 years when i got my first vehicle (which was an 01 ram)...im glad i did it, it was easier than i thought it would be, and all my vehicles from now on will get this treatment.
let me know what you think...and fyi, most people only do 2-3 coats but its up to you. even after doing 1 coat it looked SO much better...and yes i removed them from the vehicle and worked in the shop

thanks guys. and yes, it gets applied to the exterior of the lamp. prep is key with this, i know a few people who just dusted the lights and sprayed and it turned out like crap. take the time (just takes a few minutes) to wipe with alcohol and scuff them up. but like i said, most people dont go as dark as i did so its up to you. youll see after just one light layer they look 10x better
here are some pics from this morning. most of the time in the day you can see red coming through. im glad i went as heavy as i did. i didnt want that. anyway here are some before i head out of town for the rest of the day and all of tomorrow

and from a distance

i hope i helped some of you guys out that have thought about doing this. im really liking it, but prep is key and dont forget that
