Default lower kit question...

I understand that most people buy a truck to go offroad and want to lift these up, but I want to lower my 05 Ram 4WD. I was wondering if anyone else has done this. I put 305 wide 22" tires with stock tire height and I think there is too much wheel well. Also, I like to corner faster, so lower is better. I realize I have a truck and not a sports car, but I drive the way I drive, so better handling would be great. So my question is... Any suggestions on which kit to go with? I have looked at the McGaughy's Lowering Kit or the Ground Force Kit. Any other ones that Ishould look at?

Thanks...
Chris

Oh no, be prepared to get hammered by everyone on this forum about why you bought a 4wd and want to lower it when there are a ton of guys on here with 2wd trucks that they have lifted to make them look like 4wd's. I don't know much about lowering trucks but I have heard that they are not very expensive. I would say check around you local offroad shop, most of them do lowering kits along with lifts.

thanks for the heads up. As for why I bought the 4wd, it was because of the snow in the winter. I was asking here, because I wondered what gave the best handling and if anyone had any problems with any of the kits. Here are some photos of the trucks...

Nice looking truck. Love the color. No other truck looks better clean than a black one. Especially the metallic black!

nice looking truck, ya..you gonna get bashed for lowering a 4x4....just wait till ramit hears this one haha. but IMO, its your truck and do what you want. i dont know much at all when it comes to lowering and what brands are good and which arent.

my only question was why you bought a 4x4 and decided to lower it, but you answered it already and i can understand. just be prepared for the bashing. they can be brutal on the 2wd with full blown suspension lifts and dropped 4x4's. just dont SLAM it......please!

I've also thought of slightly lowering my truck as I work on an almond orchard, and it would be a lot easier to maneuver under/between trees if the truck were just a tad lower. But unless there's a way to do it real cheap, I'll probably just leave it alone.

One thing to consider when lowering a 4wd truck is the front driveline angles...rear shouldn't be a problem.

Nothing wrong with lifting a 2wd truck...you get increased front suspension travelfor sand dunes and high-speed offroad driving, where they would have superior capabilities than a comparable 4wd truck. There's a reason that most trophy trucks are 2wd.

mines a 2wd, but i dont think i would slap on a suspension lift even if i could do it all over again. i have a 2.5" leveling kit, 3" body lift and 1" leaf spring block.....and thats probally what id do if i had to do it all over again on a 2wd, but its my first vehicle and if i had to do it all over again i think i would have bought a 4x4....but whatever, i love my truck and the next go around ill get a 4x4

I appreciate all the comments (especially because there was no brutal bashing) hahaha, but I still didn't get the question answered. It sounds like noone here has really lowered the truck. The other reason I wanted to lower my truck was to get the 4 wheelers or Motorcycle in the back if I needed to carry them somewhere (or pick up a new one)[sm=confused06.gif]
Thanks again guys. Also, thanks for the advice on the light. I am happy enough with the exterior now though. Just wanted to lower it some for the gap removal and get my motorcycle in without having to find a hill to back into (ramp is a little short).
