Default upper control arm

I installed a 2.5" spacer and now my upper control arm will hit the spring bucket on large bumps. I am thinking about making a spacer to fit in between the top of the spindle and the upper control arm to eliminate the contact. Has anyone done this? Does anyone see any problems that could occur?

dude....if this goes through. and you decide to make a spacer....please please please key me in on this. mine arent hitting, but thats mainly because my shocks are too short and dont allow it to go that far apart for it to hit the shock bucket...but i took my shocks out for a few days to see how the ride would be and boy did they hit. so im thinking if i get longer shocks....the upper control arm is gonna hit. so dude, if you make a spacer or find something to put in between let me know.

only problem i see is that its just not a bolt...its a joint....a ball joint to be exact...and it may not work right because of the joint... but i dont know hopefully someone will chime in.

Ya I know. I am thinking that as long as it doesn't effect the joint movement it should work fine. I have some ideas but I just need to take it apart and get the measurements. I don't know how to weld so I will have to find someone who can. I will take pictures if I get it to work and send you the specifications. Did you get your longer shocks yet?

i had that problem when I installed mine with just stock 20"s on it....after about 70K miles my upper ball joints were shot....didnt even know it untill i bought 36's and put them on...it then gave more upper thrust to the control arm and it had some room to breathe finally......truck was shaking like a crak baby....pulled them off and one was like rubber...and the other was siezed up.....In my opinion the 2.5 isnt a good choice if ur just running stock tires....I know that recently top gun customs was supposably stopping the 2.5" becuz of that reason...but I could be wrong.....put it in 4x4 and if u get a HUGE WOBBLE....it's ur ball joints......after I replaced mine...the wobble stoppd.
