Clunking noise
I have a 2003 dodge 2500 5.7L 4x4, I have a clunking noise coming from my rear axle. It seems to more noticeable at low speeds more so when turning corners or when there is a load. I had all the ujoints change, gear oil changed, driveline looked at, if anyone can help that would be great.
I had a similiar problem when I had a '98 gasser.
Putting it in reverse, there was a serious clunk. Took it to the dealer, they said it was normal.
I then began to hear a zzzz, just a slight noise difference, but one I could hear because it didn't sound "normal" to me. I could especially hear it when driving at a slower speed past a cement barrier. Ialso changed the fluid, but the noise did not disipate. I was then told the internal bearings were going.
So, I bought a 23' boat and traded in the gasser for a 07" 2500 diesel. I had friends who wanted to buy the truck from me, only had 75K on it.But I wouldn't sell it to a friend knowing the rear end was going to be expensive.
Not encouraging I know, sorry.
