With a given vehicle weight and engine displacement and driveline ration any increase in power will result in some amount of mileage improvement.

Gears: Taller gears are a harder fight against the engine torque at low RPM. 3.23 highway gears like in my old RAM pose more of a struggle to the engine. It is very possible that a set of gears that gets the heavy vehicle rolling easier might certainly save gas in stop and go traffic.
