Default Keyless Remote Programming

Bought a keyless remote off of Ebay for my 04 RAM QC. Im not having any luck with theprogramming using the supplied directions. Was wondering if anyone has anyadvice on how to program the remote. Below are the instructions that were given.

1. Press LOCK button 5 times at 2 second intervals to resynchronize transmitter, Attempt to function transmitter.

2. Turn ignition to run postion and allow ignition chimes to stop.

3. Using any original working transmitter, press UNLOCK button 4 to 10 seconds.

4. Within the specified 4 to 10 seconds, continue pressing the UNLOCK button and press the PANIC button for 1 second and release both buttons. A chime will sound to indicate that the transmitter programming mode has been entered. (allow 3 seconds for chime to sound)

5. Press LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 1 second and release. A short chime will sound.

6. Press and release any button on the same transmitter and a chime will sound after successfully programming the transmitter. (locks will cycle) A chime will not sound on step 6 for the first transmitter programmed, but will sound upon programming the second transmitter.

7. Repeat steps 5 through 6 to program additional transmitters.

8. Turn ignition OFF position. Transmitter programming mode will discontinue about 60 seconds. All transmitter programming must be complete within time specified.

Try this, if it does not work. See what the part number on the back of the fob is. I can tell you if it is the correct one for your truck...

[ol][*]Enter the vehicle and close all doors.[*]Fasten the seat belt (this will cancel the seat belt chime). Turn the ignition to the RUN position.[*]Press and hold the UNLOCK button on a programmed transmitter for 4 to 10 seconds. Within the 4 to 10 seconds with the UNLOCK button still depressed, press the PANIC button for one second. When a single chime is heard, release both buttons. The chime indicates the system is in program mode.[*]Press and release both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on a fob to be programmed. A single chime will be heard, this indicates the fob has been recognized.[*]Press and release any button on the same fob. A single chime will be heard, this indicates the fob has been programmed.[*]Repeat steps 4 and 5 for up to a total of 4 fobs.[*]Turn the ignition OFF.[*]Turn the ignition ON or wait 60 seconds.
The vehicle will remain in program mode for up to 60 seconds from when the original chime (step 3) was heard. After 60 seconds, all programmed transmitters will function normally.[/ol]

I bought one for my 02 from ebay also for like 15 bucks.I went to the dealership reluctantly after the instructions didnt work.My truck was missing some kind of sensor behind the dash
cause i watched them take the dash off and plug it in,about the size of a deck of cards.2 guys knocked it out in about 5 minutes including programming. They did it for 35 bucks off the books cause the
shop had closed already,(beer money im sure).Anyway it still works great and this was almost a year ago.

Thanks for the info I will give it a try and let you know if it works. The dealership quoted me 30 dollars to have it programmed whichI would rather put that 30 in the tank. Searching the webI also found more information on programming Dodge remotes in the link below.

Mine didn't work either, and I wondered if I had a service call coming. When i went to the delaer about, they programmed my keys (I bought 2, without the remote lock stuff) for me, no charge. Even if I had paid them to code the keys it would have been cheaper...they quoted me $80 for an additional key when i bought the truck plus $20 for coding! Screw that........

I agree, some dealers will just "do it". Maybe if you get an oil change they will "throw" it in.

When i bought my used 02, it didn't come with a keyless remote. How do i know if it has the required equipment to be programmed with an ebay remote? It's an SLT model.

SLT you should be ok, the trick is to have the premium BCM, usually if you have factory fogs or steering wheel radio controls, then you should. The other thing is to check on the BCM if you have the required module. I posted a piece of the factory manual with a diagram somewhere on here.
