52000 Miles and a Check Engine Light
I have an 02 4.7l V8 Ram All Stock. The check engine light went on at about 51000 Mil. I checked the code it was two EVAP Emission codes. I think they were xx052 and xx055. I cleared to code drove my truck about 200 miles with no light at all. I started it the next day and the light came on. The gas cap was tight and from when i bought the truck it dropped .5 mpg in six months. (Owned the truck for 2 1/2 years.) Any suggestion on what the light may be without taking it to get diagnosed.
Thank You,

Emissions components are usually covered under a longer warranty than the traditional 3 year 36K miles, I think it like 6 years 100k miles. Look in you owners manual. Hopefully just take it to the dealership.
I'm no 4.7L expert but I had a neon that would throw emissions codes when my spark plugs were getting old, and it would throw the code at start-up when one was misfiring. Also, I don't know if it has one but a bad PCV valve can throw codes too. Next, might be a partially clogged cat. converter. Just a thought.
