Default Color Matching

Well....I went to see my truck at the body shop the other day. It had no doors! Ah well...at least I know they're making progress. I made a couple of special requests, one of them being to keep the badging off of the front (HEMI badge behind the headlight and the RAM 1500 down the doors). The other was to color match the door handles and mirrors. They cold me that the material the handles and mirrors are made out of cannot be painted, but they can find some that can be.

Now, I know a few of you have color matched your handles and mirrors. Did you have to find different parts or did you use the ones you already had? I can't even find anything other than the chrome covers, which I definitely do not want.

Of course they can be painted. The guy is prolly just to lazy to do the prepwork that is involved. They need to be sanded smooth and that can take alittle time. I painted my mirrors and wiper cowl right after I bought my truck in june of 05 and they paint is holding upvery well, and they are the same plastic as the door handles. I know of a body shop in texas that will paint your handles if you send them too him for a little over $100 if I remember correctly, and they are done right. The guy is a vendor on another dodge forum and a handful of people from that forumhave sent parts to him to paint and are very happy with his work.

I can appreciate good paint work, but what about color matching to the truck itself? I mean, the thing is five years old, it's gotta have some sort of sun fade.
