Door Lock Problem
I have a 2002 ram 1500 and the drivers side front and rear doors do not lock with the electric door lock system. Even if i use the remote they still will not lock or unlock. The pass. side works fine. Anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong?
The most common thing is bad wiring. Usually due to when speakers were installed. The wiring wasn't put on tight and they just fall off.
Do you hear the hum of the solenoid trying to lock the doors when activated? If not, there is no power. If you hear the hum, then you have power and you need to start to look at the solenoid. Yes, you can have 2 parts go bad at the same time. Not common, but can happen.
The best thing to do is if you have a DVM and you feel comfortable taking the door panels off. Start at the door solenoids and work backwards to try and find the short or broken wire.

well i have taken apart the door panels and now i have noticed that the drivers side rear window will not roll down when tried from back window and yes i made sure that it was not locked with the front door window locker. then i also noticed that the speaker in the rear drivers side door does not work. i took the speaker out of the rear door and tried it in the front door and it works fine. note that the window for the back door will roll down from drivers door panel. in doing this i think that i have isolated the problem to the wiring in the back door portion of the truck. do anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem
