Default Oil change... hmmm.. Something looks fishy...

The last time I had my oil changed, I had the stealership do it... My local dealership will come pick your car up, service it, and bring it back, great when you're stuck at work from 9-6... Anywho, I've been wanting to my full synthetic in my truck since I got it, just haven't gotten around to it. Advance had a good sale last week, and I snagged up 8 qts of oil and a Mobil 1 filter for $29.95...

Anywho, I was getting ready to go on a trip this past weekend, so I crawled under there to change my oil. This is where the question comes in... The oil in my truck was supposed to only be a little under the 2,000 mile mark, and less than a month old. I pulled the drain plug and out comes this pure black oil... I mean this stuff looked like it had been in my truck for well over it's intended life.. I don't normally change my own oil, I've done it before, but it's been a couple of years.. Is that normal??? The filter had definantly been changed, it was a mopar, and the oil change prior to the stealership was at firestone (don't know what filter they had put on, but it was a white one). Just curious if I got ripped off the $40 the dealership charged me....

I still have the used oil and receipt of my change, and was just wondering if I should go pitch a b!tch and try and get my money back or a credit...

It probably has been changed. It will get dark pretty fast. I would doubt they put on just a filter then not changed it. Liability is too high. I would be that it has 5w-30 and not 5w-20 though as those retards always use bulk oil and thats it viscosity.

I agree, probably changed. I run Mobil 1 at recommended viscosity and it's always black. Changed at 3,000 or 5,000 miles looks the same, just as long as there's no chunks, I guess.

WOW!--

I normally change my oil at 6k wit filter change at 3k Amsoil 5-30. Last time I extended it out to 7500 and while it came out darker than new--well, duh, it was still clear and clean, I could see through it.

ya, they used cheap bulk oil. that oil is crap. I always use castrol GTX syntec and change it my self. my warranty said I cant do it my self or they wont cover engine parts. but I would rather be on the safe side and use synthetic.

I don't know, man. That oil sounds pretty young to be that black. I suspect they kept your oil and put in something else. What year is your truck? Assuming you have a Hemi and it's '06 or newer, I'd bet they put the wrong oil in. $40 for an oil change and you provided the oil?! Sounds like a typical rip to me. I change my own oil -- in my Ram and the C. My Speed3 goes to a respected quick-change shop, mostly so there is a record of the work.
