all i know is that gauge cluster was fockin expensive !!! i have 04 1500 . my truck came out from a detail shop and all of a sudden the gauages and all the lights are on!!! lol i have a 5 speed manual and it was showing a display for an automatic. the detail shop said it was not their fault and argued with me on the point. anybody else that reads this, is this something that goes out all of sudden 4 years later, or did those mother f*ckers spray some crap on it?? anyways $800 later its repaired.

On the flip side, how could spraying a little Armor All on the clear plastic cover damage the gauges? Were the gauges dripping in crap when they were removed? If not, I don't see how they could have caused the problem even if they'd wanted to do it on purpose.

Sorry this doesn't help on the removal how-to but I had to ask...

well of course not like that, from what ive heard on detailing , they spray your carpets with a pressure hose , therefore, water bouncing up into the dash electrical componets.

I'm not usure why you are removing the guage unless it is to replace it. From what i remember it is fairly simple. Rgere are2 phillip screws on the trim ring after you remove them just pull. The trimring will pop off.behind that there are a few more screws remove them and the cluster will come out.YOu will need to remove the wiring harness to theheadlight switch to move the trim ring out fo the was andprobably put the trucl in gear to get thecluster out.I took ming out a long time ago this is what i remember.

Thanks for the help Avenger!! Just like you said, but I also took out screw behind bag holder and pulled the piece that covers the radio off too. I replaced the overhead console at the same time, and now my Key FOB doesn't work. Is that related???
Thanks again
Rich
