I just bought a 08 SLT with almost all the bells & whistles, it lacks the auto dim rearview mirror. Is the over head console pre-wired for the auto dim??

No. All the wires there are either low voltage data signals, or a constant 12v (with keyoff)
The installation manual from dodge on their dimming mirror accessory showed a connector for it sitting in the passenger side a-pillar near the glove box. The accessory was for 05-07 so they were not sure the 08's were the same. There are minor wiring differences.
