I just hit 2500 miles and the change oil message came in. Is this programed to come on every 2500 miles or is there more to it?

you can't change it too early. so, go ahead and change it.

i change mine every 2k, just so it's easy to remember "every even thousand"...easier that way w/ multiple cars. and, i also drive in the city, and drive quite hard.

 

My first one came on about 2600 mi, ended up changing oil to Mobil 1 synthetic at about 3500 miles. Indicator just came on again at 9500 mi...apparently the computer measures driving conditions and lets the intervals run up to 6k miles.

 

No its actually a filter im pretty sure and when its senses its getting to dirty then the light comes on. Has nothing to do with miles.

 

My light comes on every 2600 miles even though the book says to change the oil every 6k. My dealer said that when the light will come on is based on several factors to include: driving style, idle time, load, and engine run time.
