Default 02 ram 1500 4.7L with AC problems

its been hot and my AC is starting to act up on me. Its been fine up until about a week ago. When you first start the truck and run the AC ( on MAX) it gets very cold in the truck and then for some reason ( not time specific) the clutch disengages and it will take a very long time before the clutch re-ingages ( sometimes the truck will get HOT inside) before it comes back on. I dont think the problem in low freon but I have no checked with a set of gauges. What are the low and high side pressures when running? Any thoughts on what might be the problem? I was wondeirng if the pressure switch might be causing the problem. Condensor fan works fine, no fuses blown either.

Your AC condensor is NOT mounted to your radiator. Your AC condensor is located to the Right side of the radiator with its own seperate ELECTRIC FAN mounted to it. Many people confuese that as a transmission cooler... its NOT. Your Clutch fan has NOTHING to do with your AC.

There is a TSB for that electric fan. They will replace it with a 2003+ Electric fan that is better suited for the AC cooling system.

I had my 2002 4.7L AC fan replaced under warranty.

+1....ive gone over this quite a few times now. do a search on the topic.either bring it in, or you can get a whole new housing, fan, and motor on ebay for around $80 shipped. fairly easy install. it just takes some timeto wiggle the thing out other than u bolting a few bolts on the sides and on top.

Air Ram,
When I said clutch I mean the compressor clutch. The Condensor fan does come on and I know it is to the driver side of the radiator becuase I had the problem with fuse blowing int he winter time and had that issue fixed.
