Default 2005 1500 4x4 Trans failure

So my son and I are up in the mountains in the middle of Bum F_ _ K nowhere in (2 wheel drive)and the truck loses all gears. It just made a grinding sound even in neutral. I thought the tranfer case blew. Towed 75 miles to the dealer in Redding Ca. I talked with the dealer today and he told me the trans ate it. They had never seen this failure beforeand called Chrysler. Chrysler responded asking them for a complete tear down for assessment, chrylser told the rep that they had seen a few of these. So the service rep says he does not know if they are going for a rebilud or chrysler may send them a box. I had not had even a hint of a failure, fliud was clean, shifting was always perfect. Anyone else had this problem?

Sorry to hear your horror story. Mine went out at 2400 miles. Maybe Dodge needs to step back and look at what they are doing. They do have a problem.

OK, Here is the final chapter in my trans Blow out. Dodge tells the dealers that you cant have a replacement trans unless there is over 70 % parts failure . I had 65%, So they totally rebuilt the trans. (That is ok, but you loose on the down time)There were several upgraded parts that were replaced and the trans computer got new programming. The shifting is much firmer now. Lovin that !
Total Cost to me was $ 100.

As to the 1o days I had a rental car the dealer told me to call Dodge customer service to see if they will pick up the tab.I talked with Dodge CS and first talked to some idiot in India that was a moron. He said sure we will pay for that, So I asked him to either call my rep or put it in writing.. Well of couse that changed things and he finally transfered me to the US. ThisUS guy was a piece of work. I was treated like a piece ofsh-t.. Their posisition was to tell me it sounded like the dealer was dragging there feet, tell them to pay the bill. They said they will only do exactly what the warranty states,NO MORE< NO LESS. I responded with I'm sorry I thought I was talking to Dodge customer service not GMC Customer care.

I told my dealer what they said and the dealer applogized for reccomending I call them. I had a service contract that paid for 5 days. The dealer and I split the other 5 days.

The Dealer where I was towed is Crown Motors in Redding, Ca. My service rep was David Cleese. Great Dealer and the rep was awesome !
