Default Which Navigation System?

What are some good navigation systems? At the end of the summer I go off to college and I think that one would be a good investment. I was going to get the Pioneer In-Dash, but the thing is $1100! I know it's probably a great system, but that's just kinda out of my summer jobs pay range. I guess I'll get the kind that mounts to your dash or windshield and runs off of your cigarrette lighter.I really don't want to spend over $500. Are there some that are pretty good, but still a decent price? Thanks.

if you can afford a garmin, it's probably one of the best mobile navigation units out there. i've seen a bunch of other types of units lose signal randomly, or not pick it up to begin with, but the garmin didn't have problems. they are a bit more expensive though.

Here you go: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...GPS-Navigation

Get any garmin unit with voice prompt. There is not a single unit over $400 and you can get a refurbished one that would sell for over $500 for alot less. Stay away from the Nextar unit.

I have a Tom Tom and have never had a problem with signal loss. I've had a Michelin and another no-name-knockoff, but the Tom Tom is my hands down favorite. I've actually had 2, some oen else apparently liked the first one more than me and broke the window to get it.

Third is NAVIGON. these navis got one great feat, and that is the LANE ASSIST. not only does it tell you wich turn to take. but it also tells u wich lane to stay in to get there, if there is multiple lanes. they also offer good updates of the maps for low cost. + 1 free update with ewery new purchase.
