No they get stuck in the screen, and when there are too many, you either take it off and wash them out, or throw it away and replace it. It's a pain to get in between all the little fins of the radiator and you don't want to damage that.

Just hit it with the hose once a week when you wash your truck. If you are doing it right, you are washing the engine weekly along with the body and undercarriage. Shouldn't be an issue.

Cabela's makes a nice one for under 40$. I went to the hardware store and replaced the cheap plastic stick on snap fasteners with stainless steel ones and stainless screws. Snaps on & off in seconds. I got ours cause we plan to travel w/camper(everytime gas prices go up our retirement dream goes farther down the toilet) and I have talked to campers that have run into swarms of locusts, grasshoppers, bees ect.. that plugged up the radiator in a matter of seconds, to the point of overheating and getting stranded within 10 miles. I figure it is cheap insurance if we can ever go out west.

For those that have a compressor, I blow the crap out from the back (meaning from the fan side) when I do an oil change. You would be amazed not only by the bugs that fly out but how many little pebbles (and some times Bam Bam) get stuck in between the fins. Works well.

Removing bugs is best with a credit card, or plasitic scrapper, they just scrape off, using a wand at a car wash damages the fins on the rad, or a hose at home will work.
