My Wheel bearing went out :(
Last week my front right wheel started to make noises and yesterday I finally got to work on it.
It turned out to be a wheel bearing. Unfortunately you can't just buy a bearing, but a complete hub assembly which will run you $230.00 at Autozone.
It's a pretty quick repair. After you take the wheel off you need to remove the caliper (note: you don't need to take the brake apart, or remove brake pads, just remove the two bigger bolts and get it off of the rotor). Next remove the caliper. Then spray some WD40, 1stAid or something like that on the 3 bolts that hold the hub give it a few minutes and attack it with a long a$$ wrench. The bolts are really long so after you get them loose switch to a ratchet.
The hub will probably sit on pretty tight, so a hammer will be necessary.
Altogether it took me about an hour, but I'm sure I can do it in half that time, now.
Next time I work on my truck I'll get the camera
)
I have over 135K miles on it, so I’m pretty sure the left wheel will follow pretty quickly.
Cheers,Tomski
