Default Four Codes - P0051, P0152, P0155, P0356 - A Little Help Please.

Newbie here, thanks for any advice in advance.

As the title says, my truck has thrown four codes. I cleared them out with a friend's scanner and have not re-checked but the CEL came on right after I engaged the crusie control. Don't know if that's coincidence or not.

A list I found on a Viper website indicates my problem(s) are probably O2 sensors. Does anytone have experience with these codes? Or where I can definitely find the fix for them? I noticed on another thread someone said he cleaned the sensor with Brakleen and fine sandpaper and it cleared up his problem. Is this the accepted wisdom on sensors, or just swap them out? What kind of price to replace them? Any help appreciated. Dan

P0051 O2 Sensor 2/1 Heater Circuit Low
P0152 2/1 O2 Sensor Shorted to Voltage
P0155 2/1 O2 Sensor Heater Failure
P0356 Ignition Coil #6 Primary Circuit

sounds like the front o2 sensor on the passenger side is bad..not sure about the ignition coil, it could be bad also

Chris,
Thanks so much for the quick response. Dumb question coming: Where is the passenger side O2 sensor located? I assume screwed into a bung welded into the exhaust somewhere on the passenger, but any additional directions would be much appreciated.

As to he coil, are there individual coils per spark plug wire? That is a galactically stupid idea...unless that's the way it is! By the way, this is a 4.7 V8

Last, what are most of you guys using for a technical reference book? Haynes, Chilton? Or a factory service manual?

I can't remember how the 4.7's are set up sensor wise, I seem to remember my 02 having one before and after the cat...the code you are throwing is for the one before the cat (side towards the exhaust manifold)if your truck is equipped with 2 sensors.....I use the haynes and look up stuff online

Yup, its the one in front of the cat on the passenger side.

The coil code could be a loose connector at the coil or a bad coil. Or a problem with the wiring going to it or the pcm itself but that is less likely.

Thanks guys. I'll get on my creeper and take a look for the O2 sensor. I'll assume this is an item I can get from Autozone/Pepboys? And not only from the dealer? Can you just clean them/re-install them as per someone on another thread or is that just asking for the code to be thrown again? I'll check for a Haynes manual when I am at Pep Boys too.

Also, I periodically get some rough and lowered idle as though one cylinder isn't firing. It clears out quickly, at worst after ten seconds. This makes me think its that #6 coil. I'll look into that too while I'm under the hood and report back with the results. Thanks again, Dan

Try moving the #6 coil to another cylander and see if it throws a code, if it does the coil is prolly bad..if it dosnt throw a code but the coil pack that you moved to where #6 used be throws a code then It means the coil is fine and there is something else wrong..hope this makes some sence. lol

Keni, So avoid the hassle and get the correct )2 sensor from the dealer? I imagine it will cost quite a bit more but it will be a relief to just get it behind me.

Chris, nmakes perfect snese to me. Of course I'm a bit concerned that if the problem is NOT the coil, then what?

Also I wonder if I can hijack my own thread and ask if any of you have had a problem with your heat/ac controls? My system wasa bit down on freon, topped it off. But the ac coming out of the passenger side vents is decidely waremr than the ac coming out of the driver side vents. Maybe I should post a new thread for this subject? Since I am new here I'll follow your advice, Thanks for all your help to this point. Dan
