upon startup for a min or less hearing a tick from motor. oil was changed less than 1k miles ago. used 5w 30 like manual calls for . motor only has 55k. HELP!

Mine does the same. My buddy is a mechanic and says they all do it. I think it is lifters before they pump up. Chevys do the same thing. He also recommended synthetic since mtor is OHC. He said they usually get a bunch of junk in the top of the motors, then BOOM. I'm not an expert at all, just my .02

This is a common issue with the 4.7. Most likely a leakat the exhaust manifold, not a lifter issue. Common for some of the manifold studs to break, giving a tick when cold. Search for it and you will find everything you need to know.

Mine has been doing it for over 5 years & 165000 miles. my advice when you start it up turn up the radio..

its jsut because there is not oil at the lifters so its kinda like a dry start, but aslong as it goes away there wont be a problem.....if it really bothers you then you could go to a thicker oil itll kill ur gas millage though
