Default Painting the 02 1500.

Seeing as how I don't have $3000 to drop on a paint job, I was considering going up to Oklahoma City and letting Maaco do it at a relatively cheap price.

Have any of you ever gone through Maaco? I've heard horrible things, and pretty good things. Need some first hand advice.

Thanks guys.

I would say you will get what you pay for. If a regular body shop is saying it will cost you $3k, and Maaco says only $500, they are obviously skimping on something - they will probably not do a good job on prep work, use lower quality paints, and are probably using less experienced labor. The results might look ok (or they might not!), but it probably will not last in the long run. Why are you looking to paint?

I have seen a few Macco paint job. Everyone was terrible. The painted over eyervthing. Door handles, mirrors, cowl screen etc. The paint was orange peeled and just plain horrible. If you do let them paint it, take off everything that you do not want painted.

I have a pretty good dent in the back driver's side where someone hit me in a parking lot, and 3 dents on my driver's side door, and I figure if I'm going to get those fixed, I might as well paint it black, which I've always wanted. But I'll probably be getting deployed here soon, and when I come back after a year with like 40 grand, I'll probably just paint it, throw rims on it, swap out the engine, and re-do the interior.
