2002 V6 1500 - Fuel system problem
Hi all. I need some guidance to figure out if I am being "taken" by a Dodge dealership. I have had multiple problems with my truck and it's been at the dealership for the better part of 2 months. It started with the truck failing inspection. First they told me it was the computer chip (not sure what the part was called) and replaced it. I then went to get it inspected and it failed because of something in the emissions. They replaced another part and it failed again (check engine light would come on after about 200 miles once they reset it). Now they are telling me the rollover valve is bad and it will be $600 to replace the gas tank (they say it's a part in the gas tank). I have searched everywhere and it looks like the rollover valve is part of the fuel pump. Any thoughts on this?
Just as an added bonus this dealership has replaced nearly the entire suspension (under a 3rd party warranty) to try to fix a banging sound in the front on bumps and turns. Rack and pinion, upper and lower control arms, etc etc. Another dealership diagnosed it as a broken shock bolt. A $3 part and they had already put almost $5000 in work into the truck. The reason I even brought it back is because I got them to fix the shock bolt at no charge and was hoping they would figure out why it failed inspection twice already.
