City driving? Yes it will help MPG. Less strain on the engine to go from a stop! Highway will probably drop a little! My RPM's at 70 were 1700 with the stock 3.92 gears and now with the 4:56 the RPM's only went up to 2000, which is not much of a jump. I also have Superchips programmer, CIA, Flowmaster, TBS (not that it helps any). I used to have to floor it to get a quick start off the line and now it get up and goes at half pedal!

you won't get any more power with gears, just more torque to the wheels. will def give you more pop off the line though, and help your city mpg quite a bit. 3.55 with 35s is a pretty bad setup for city driving.

i think hammer said that the gears are a definite no no for a DIY. is that any different with the install kit?

My friend and I are going to weld a cross member behind the front bumper from frame to frame and custom mount a winch like the Power Wagon has stock!

Just FYI: Warn makes a hidden mount for our trucks, is fairly cheap, does the same thing. Although never let itbe said that I'd say anything bad about welding your own bracket. I've welded up many things when I couldn't find what I needed, including my own "tow hooks" or whatever you want to call them that allow me to hook a couple shackles onto my winch mount...

And Xfee: I don't think he is thinking about installing gears himself, the install kit is needed with the gears, it has new bearings, etc. that should be replaced with a gear swap...

Yes, But I am not sure if it will work with a body lift?? And it will give me something to do!
