RUST??!! Help!
I've had this truck for 3 weeks. It is an '06 with 34K +/- on the clock. I was feeling inspired today so I washed and waxed it. While waxing, I noticed that each body panel except the hood and roof is covered with these little rust flecks. They have very little profile, and they aren't deep, but they look horrible!
Also, the undercarriage is a giant ball of rust! All of it is surface, and won't be a problem for a LONG time, but still!! Apparently, the original owner didn't opt for the under coating!!!
I'm not concerned with the undercarriage, but I hate to see such a beauty scarred up like this! As I said, they are small and scattered. In fact, I didn't even notice them when we looked at it or in the ensuing weeks since we bought it! It's a shame. Like a prom queen with a butter face- Nice bod, but her face...
She is still under factory warranty for about 200 miles or so. But. I'm not sure this surface rust is covered. Any help on warranty issues and/or correcting her blemishes would be greatly appreciated!!

Relax.....Its called rail dust. I have a white Ram and when I purchased the truck it had all those little rust flaskes EVERYWHERE! I tried waxing and could not get rid of the turds. My heart was low. ALAS I found clay bar. Just purchase some mothers clay bar and spray and do the entire truck. Go over surface until the clay bar picks up the little specs. THEN WASH and WAX your truck. VIOLA PRETTY PROM DRESS, HOT FACE....
Thanks a TON for the good news!![sm=wootwoot.gif] Is there a patented technique for using the clay bar? I have seen them, but never seen one employed on a car/truck. Also, what is "rail dust"? And how does one preclude getting it again?

All you need to know about claying^^
I did my moms car (an 07 mazda) at the begining of the summer/end of spring and it too is white. It was the first time I had clayed, was pretty easy, and it makes a big difference. The paint becomes a whole lot smoother, it gets rid of the stuff a simple wash won't. Top it off with your favorite wax and your good to go.

yep use the clay bar.this weekend i plan on doing a very very detailed cleaning. Meguiars NXT wash, then im gonna go with their clay bar kit, then after that gonna do Meguiars 3 step process of deep crystal starting with their paint cleaner, then polish, then wax. gonna take me a good amount of time, but it should look and feel pretty good when finished!
