Pinion seal.
How hard/easy is it to change out a pinion seal?
Just noticed on my 1500 03 4x4 Hemi QC Ram, that the seal is leaking.
Also, I have the dreaded retaining clip issues, commonly referd to as "C clips".
I removed all the remaining clips as one of the two left was slightly scoring one side of the carrier.
These fine particles, even though I caught it early, probably led to the pinion seal failure?
At this point, if I'm doing some work on the Pinion seal, I was thinking of swapping out the crap standard Chrysler locker, for either the Detroit or Auburn units, most seem to be going with here.
The only trouble is, is that although I can turn a spanner quite effectively and I'm not a dummy, setting up backlashes etc would be a no no for me as I do not have the experience necessary to do it.
Would I need to "set up" the diff if I replaced the original LSD?
Bear in mind I will NOT be replacing any gears.
Or, is it just a fairly straight forward swap with side adjustments etc.
We don't have experienced Dodge Techy's over here in the UK so I'd rather do the work myself and save on the money rather than pay to give someone else the experience if you see what I mean.
Any help is very much apprciated guys?

it is straight forward if you have the right equipment. i wouldn't worry too much about inexperienced dodge techs.diffsoperate on generally the same principlesno matter what country the vehicle is from. gear lash issues are the same for any device that has them! a good mechanic should have no problem.
