'04 Ram 4.7L QC Overheating - Resolved!
Hello all! First of all I'd like to say thanks to all who post here. I was able to get alot of good troubleshooting info from this board.
I'd read several posts dealing with overheating issues and finally narrowed my issue down to the radiator. I ordered the rad from JC Whitney for $170 shipped (same part carried by Rock Auto). It was a perfect fit except the new rad did not have the plastic slots for the right side of the trans cooler. All I had to do for this was to buy a couple of "speed nuts" and bolts and everything bolted right up.
I started troubleshooting by replacing cheap stuff first:
1. Radiator Cap
2. Serpentine belt
3. Fan Clutch
Anyone have any thoughts on why this radiator would plug in 4 years? Could it be the new HOAT coolant?

Same truck, same problem. Only overheated at freeway speeds though.
the morons at the dealership ended up resurfacing the heads first, but whatever it was warrenty work. I'm sure they were just milking the warrenty holder. A-holes had my truck for two full weeks though, and now the engine light comes on periodically. Code says misfire, but it seems to be running fine. I am going to put new plugs in it today...
Anyway, the real problem turned out to be a clogged radiator. Must be common?
