Default screen in fuel fill?

i was told by a mechanic at a dodge dealership that there is a sceen in the fuel tank shaft that keeps someone from siphonin out gas from your tank. i was plannning on gettin a locking fuel cap but was told that i didnt need one cause of the screen. this was the first i had ever heard this and dont really believe this is the case. has anyone ever come across this before?

If they want your gas they'll get it....cutting the funnel hose or puncturing the tank won't take too long. I put a locking cap on to stop people from putting crap in my tank. People are in general lazy and won't go through much more trouble than opening the fuel door just to cause problems....unless they're desperate for gas.

Stick a tube in there and see if it stops at a screen or if you can get to the gas. You don't have to siphon, just blow bubbles.

My '03 has a ball in a cage at the bottom of the fill tube. Only a 1/4" tube would fit through.

if they want your gas, then theyre gonna get it. its simple enough to make a little hole in the tanks itself. i do have a locking gas cap on mine though because of the fact that ******** like to ruin your stuff. my dad has a commercial company with a lot of trucks, and one day he had to leave one of the ford f-650's there and the next morning it wouldnt run. towed it to his mechanic only to find over 10lbs of sugar in it! ran all thorugh the fuel lines and everything. luckily he got it fixed.
