New Ram 4.7 owner, mods questions
Hello all. I am a new owner of a 06 4.7 Ram. I picked it up about 3 months ago. Previous to that I had a 2000 4.7 Dakota. I've googled around quite a bit and noticed that there seems to be a lack of aftermarket performance parts for the 4.7 motor. About the only site I've found that carries anything decent is rpmoutlet.com, but even then that's just Jet chip, TB spacer and CAI and not much else. I've also noticed that there seems to be a lack of parts out there for the 06-08 4.7 in general. Why is that? Is there any other sites out there that maybe I'm missing that carry more than just CAIs and Jet chips?

Good luck. There is not much as far as simple mods go for the 4.7. There are intakes and the JET chip. airram.com sells major mods such as headers, heads, cams, etc..., but those are big money complex mods. Get a good free flowing exhaust, an intake and an electric fan and that's about it for easy mods. Everyone has a Hemi. It gets better gas mileage and has a lot more power.
lol ivaskjak its always hemi this and hemi that...isnt it?? ya as far as 4.7 ltr mods, airram.com is where i get most of mine, he is a site that generally supports the 4.7 inparticular because of the lack of aftermarket parts around and he also has one himself he built up . in a recent post today i noted that i cannont find a supercharger, or for that matter any kind of turbo charger either for my 4.7 ltr ( of course) because of the fact that its not that damn hemi. once again , once these payments are up , im going to a srt -10.
There is a Novi 2000 centrifugal supercharger for our 4.7. It gives moderate HP & torque gains and is fairly simple to install. IMHO, automatic trannies are BORING. I own 6 cars and 2 motorcycles and they all have manual trannies. I actually passed on the HEMI because they don't come with a manual. Unfortunately, that means I got stuck with an engine no one wants to Hot Rod. When I have the money, I'm going to seriously consider dropping in a 528 HEMI crate motor in mine. Go completely old school with carb and aftermarket ecu spark control. Add a SC and I'm at 800+ HP. Then I'll wake up and still be stuck with a plain 4.7 [8D]...
I to have the 4.7 but with the 6 speed manual I get good gas milage and as I've seen first hand the Hemi is not all that in trucks. My friend has a Hemi and we palyed around coming back from a meet and he never lost me. Now as gas milage goes his sucks. I think it's funny when some judge your truck if it has a hemi or not. I have one in my patrol charger and that is all the Hemi I need. Go with open exhaust, CAI, E-Fan and you should have no problem. I don't. Took a trip last week and averaged 18-20mpg. Playing with a dumba$$ in a mustang and got 15mph. Plus the satisfaction of blowing his mind when I spun the 20's in second gear.
thats why i like the manual trannytruck it is fun !! and ya defanetely spining the 20's in 2ndis real fun , and these other trucks with automatics get a kick out of that ! and same reason i did not go with the hemi either epagusus, at my time of crappy trade in their was the 4.7 ltr manual , or hemi with a automatic sitting next to each other that i would qualify /and or payments were perfect for!! and i always said my next truck would be manual so i picked the 4.7. i have tosay i have 98 ram auto , and 98 durango autoand those aredef. not as fun to drive compared to the manual!
