Just picked up my new 08 1500 4x4 over the weekend. It has the 3 position 4x4 ****. When i went to test it out, i was surprised to find that the **** has no detents. It just spins smoothly without the clicks to tell you it's in position. It still has the range of motion i'd expect. The 4 lock and 4 lo modes do work. the **** just seems odd to me. All the other similar ***** in the truck (headlight switch, Fan controls, etc) do have the position detents, it seems weird this one doesn't. It seems that with enough vibration, it'll find it's way drifting into 4wd.

Is this supposed to be like this or do i have a bad ****?

MY 08 with the 3 position has the detents. Sounds like you got a bum **** there, pardon the language.

 

same here, mine has detents as well... sounds like a quick fix @ the dealer.
