Default El-cheapo undercoating?

So I searched the forums and it seems that some people like undercoating and some think it's a waste of money.
I live in the great salty northeast so am interested. So I was wondering on opinions on kinda doing both.
Is there any reason the cheapo $4 cans of "rubberized undercoating" would be BAD for the truck?
At least get the rear wheel wells?

Put in a set of liners in the rear wheel wells. You can get them at the dealer for $90 and will make it look MUCH better and protect.

yeah i got the liners in mine and i like it alot better, as for the undercoating im thinking of getting mine undercoated from a guy down here, hes gonna spray a rust inhibitor then paint the body with undercoating and then all my suspension n such with gloss black for $500, or go el cheapo with just rust inhibitor and undercoating for $250

Ok, but if I wanted to just spray the cheap stuff up into the rear wheel wells it wouldn't be a BAD thing right?
Just not the BEST thing?
