I just purchased a used 2003 Ram Quad Cab and there is not 4X4 light on the dash when I shift into 4WD. I took it back to the dealer and they told me that it doesn't have a light all at, but the manual tells me that it should? Can any one with an 03 tell my if the light should be there?

I have a 2003 5.7 HemiQC short box 4x4 auto 1500 with the 2wd 4wd, &low shift lever on the floorand it is there!

Do you actually get 4wd when you shift there? Usually if the light doesn't come on, it isn't getting into 4wd for whatever reason.

 

It feels like it is indeed in 4wd when I shift it there. I can see the 4X4 indicator in the dash , but it does not light up when I perform the instrument sweep, or when in 4WD.

 

Looks like the bulb might be out.

 

I have the same problem. I recently purchased a 05' Hemi QC 4x4 and wthe FWD light does not come on. It is in deed going into 4x4 though. 4x4 low with the hemi= break your neck off roading!

 

I had the same problem on my 2005 Ram, 4X4 would engage just the little 4X4light would not tell me it was in 4X4I took it to the dealer and they replaced a little switch on the tranny. They said it is VERY common and they fixed a bunch of them. Let me know if that helps, if not I will look in my paper work and get the name and part number for the part replaced
