New whining sound
Hello All,
I have a 2005 Ram 1500 with a Hemi (Quad)(130,000. miles). A new whining sound just appeared. It starts at 20mph when I accelerate. When I take my foot off of the gas is stops. It gets softer after 60mph but I can still hear it. It also makes the sound fairly loud with my foot off of the gas when slowing back down to 20mph. The tranny has been replaced about 20,000 miles ago and the brakes are fairly new. I checked fluid levels and they seem fine as well as the belt. I had the fluid changed in the rear diff about 20,000 miles ago also.I'm stumped... Any guesses?

Just tell your wife to get out of the truck when you want to go for a drive.... Just messing with ya...
Really though if its not your belts, and not the diff or trany, you might want to pull the alternator and get it tested or replaced. On my old truck the bearings on my alternator went out which caused a nice high pitched squeel on excelleration and decelleration. Other than that I cant really think of anything else.
