on the fly

Default on the fly

my truck has 4wd shifter in floor instead of button on the dash. is it on the fly in or out of 4wd.

don't do it in sharp turns or with front/rear going different speeds either. sometimes you ahve to jam it in there.

stick is mechanical. **** is electric. mechanical is older but, in my opinion, a more robust design. went electric in 06 i think.

In my opinion the mechanical engagement of the transfer case is best, only because of my previous experience with the electrical solenoid based system. I had a 99 tahoe with the pushbutton system. One time after getting stuck in the mud, I went to push the button for 4WD and the button just sat there blinking at me. Thats a bad feeling - especially when you need it.
