painting headlights
You need patience; I was impatient and did a bad job (in my opinion) which is why Jonny got my old headlight assemblies for free
I'd say 10 minutes to take off the headlight assembly (second one goes faster),about 20 minutes to take it apart (using oven), another 5 minutes to remove the reflector, another 5 minutes to touch up the sealant, another 20 minutes to put the headlightback together then another 5 minutes to reinstall. In total about 2 hours.
Bear in mind I just removed my reflectors and didn't paint them.

i started to tear one headlight down and now am 10 hours into it and keep running into problems. now i am at the point where i will probably just have to buy some new ones. i taped off my headlight with blue painters tape and scuffed and painted the light. no problems stuck it in the freezer for 30 minutes to get the tape to come off easier and i ended up pulling a crap load of the chrome off. so i figured i would try to touch it up and make a straight edge all the way around since i was still on the outer part of the chrome. that looked like crap. so i the figured i will paint the the whole main headlight and the parking lights except for the reflector rectangles on the parking lights (as seen on ebay). instead of using tape i figured i would use petroleum jelly, so i went to wipe it off and a towel rubbed through it and a paper towel almost rubs through it. anyone have any ideas on a way to get chrome back on it? i will probably just get chrome paint and paint the thing see how it turns out since the headlight is pretty much screwed anyway if no one has any ideas. thanks
That freezer might be doing more harm than good. I though tape stuck better in dry environments. Mine came off without much chrome peeling at all, and I just pulled it off really carefully.
Next person that does it, stick it in the bathroom with the hot shower running for 20 mins. The humidity should help it come of...I think.
