I have the 2008 Dodge QC 4*4 HEMI with the MDS and was wonderin is there a certain way to brake in your truck. So far what i have done to my truck is whenever she had 300miles i loaded with 3000lbs for maybe only 50 miles and when it hit 1000miles i took her muddin other than that the highest speed i have picked it up to was maybe 95mph.What iam tryin fo really figure out is there specific way to brake your truck in. thanks ahead for any information

 

i don't know, but i have always been told, to be easy on your new car's engine for the first year, so no racing or reeving the **** out of it. Gradually get a little harder on it. my $0.02

 

95 mph on a new truck is a little much don't you think? It's all written in your owners manual. Red

 

Mountain driving is the best way -- lots of top-gear acceleration and light braking. Next is city driving which is almost the same. Varying speeds when on the highway: 45 for a few miles, then hammer it to 80 or so, back down to 60, down to 50, up to 70. Top gear acceleration puts a fair load on the motor, then slow down to allow some cooling. Don't hammer the brakes for a while, so the pads can get acquainted with the rotors gradually. There are some that say drive it like you stole it from day one. I've broken in many new engines and watched my dad do the same. Never any oil leaks or engine failures (still gotta do regular maintenance, of course).

 

You don't want to drive it like a grandma, or the rings won't seat properly, but you don't wanna go crazy while the engine is still braking in the bearing surfaces. Your best bet is to drive slightly more aggressive then usual, but not insane.
