Default Help with airbag light

I recently purchased a Ram 1500 2003 from an auction. It had been wrecked at some point and fixed I am assuming because the airbag light was on. We sent the module off to be reset but it was sent back with an internal error and therefore had to purchase new. THe dealership said that the new module did not need to be VIN locked and all I had to do was plug it back in. Didn't work. The airbag light is still on. Can anyone help?

I would be nervous with that. For the two obvious reasons that it would not work when you need it or it could go off at anytime. It may not be the module but one of the many sensors that detect the impact. If that is the case, it may only take a pot hole or nudge to set it off in your face. Or, again, not detect the crash if it occurs.

If the vehicle was wrecked, they would have needed to replace the clock spring as well as the air bags. Also the supplemental restraint system verification test procedure should be performed following service of any supplemental restraint system component. Have you had the vehicle scanned for codes to see why the light is actually on? The pre-tensioners in the seatbelts could also need replacing. Look and make sure the seatbelt electrical connectors are pluged in...
