Default Oil leak near tranny/motor seal

I noticed some engine oil on the garage floor the other day and found a leak coming from the seal between the engine and tranny. It's a 5.7 Hemi with 8200 miles, and I've been using Mobil 1 since 3k miles. Any ideas on this and has anyone else had a similar leak? It will be a couple weeks before I can get it into the dealer since it's my wifes daily driver temporarily. Attached is a photo.....

You too? I had a similar looking leak, see my post on this issue - today. Pull the inspection cover in the phot to see if you can verify if it is the rear main seal as mine was leaking elsewhere. My Powerwagon has been in dealer since Tue as they pulled the trans to locate the leak. They let me know yesterday the oil galley seals were leaking and replacement seals have been ordered. The previous visit they put dye in the oil and used the black light to verify if what I was seeing was oil or tranny fluid. The new wrinkle is they also stated the trans oil pump is leaking, and said stated Dodge was having problems with the pump in the Rams. I was told there was a new type of pump that was called for, however it is on back order. No info yet today as to when it will be repaired.

I was afraid it would be something like the main seal or a bearing seal that would require time to fix and disassembly of many things.......

I don't remember it leaking until I started using Mobil 1.

I had/have a leak dripping from one of the lower most bolts on the bell housing ... but mine is tranny fluid.

The dealer has so far replaced the entire front pump assembly and the front cover ... but it still forms a drip after as little as a 15-mi drive. The dealer is claiming its "residue" ... but I have a hard time understanding how I can clean the fluild off after each drive and it will reappear each time.

That's where mine is leaking too. It looks like engine oil, it's too dark to be tranny fluid. I hope to get in into the dealer in the next 2 weeks.

I'm dropping it off at the dealer tomorrow night after work for the oil leak and an A/C fan that dies intermitently. I'll pass along what they come up with for the oil leak.

The service advisor called me just before lunch today. He said the oil leak was from the rear crankshaft seal, which they had replaced already. He said they think the a/c fan problem was due to a short in the a/c control panel. They ordered a new one and it should be there in the morning.

I'm really happy with the service, Autoway Dodge in Clearwater, FL, did it right this time. They called me with answers before I even called to ask.
