245's to 265's with 17" wheels and 3.92's...
Just wondering if anyone with 17's has gone from the awfully small 245's to 265's? I'm curious to know if there is really any noticible change in the ride, mpg's or anything else for that matter.

Also...for those that have put a new set of rubber on their rams, have you found a tire that you are happy with?

You'll almost always lose mpg's going to a larger tire (either in width or diameter), but in this case, I'd say it would not be enough to make a significant difference. Your ride comfort probably will increase, at least on uneven or bad roads as the increased sidewall flex of the taller tire on the same diameter wheels should cushion a bit better.
As far as an opinion on tires, it looks like from the one you are looking at, we travel in different circles, so you would not be happy with a tire I'd recommend...
Oops, forgot to cover the gearing thing, it looks like the next poster covered it though, but I was just gonna say that with 3.92s you would be fine unless you were an off-roader (not by the looks of the tire your looking at) or towed heavy loads fairly often. Heck the change in your effective ratio might even be enough to negate the larger diameter and you possibly would gain (or at least not lose) any mpg's on the highway...

Thanks for the responds...I just actually took alook at a ram down the road from me that has 17's and 265's. It looks goofy cause it has a 6" lift with that wheel/tire combo (and its a yellow 2nd gen sport). They don't seem too much bigger but they should fill up the wheelwell better than the 245's that are on now.

Hey "The hemiman12345", I have 265/70/17's on the stock 17" factory aluminums on our 05 QC. I wish I had gone with the 285/70/17's though. They would have filled in the wheel well a little more and been a little wider too. I wish I could up load a picture of them on the truck. I may go bigger next time when I need a new set. I like how they handle and they look good too, they just don't fill the wheel well as much as I want them too. I'm down about 1/2-1 mpg but the trade off isn't that big of a deal. I want to do the leveling kit, which will work against the MPG, but I've also got some other tricks to bring up our MPG I'm working on. Hope this helps, stay cool
