SUSPENSION SURVEY 2005 Dodge Ram 2500
Guys,
I'm sure the question has been asked in the past, it's being asked in the present and will undoubtably be asked again in the future but here it is....
I'm looking to get a lift and wheels/tires for my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 QuadCab with SB......
Could anyone provide me with their experience i.e. components used.....
My deepest appreciation,
Jim

IFS 1500 here, and I don't do it by any means for a living, but I've installed or helped install about a dozen lifts. Rancho 4" suspension on my ride and I've done body lifts on my own solid axle 4x4's, a few others and helped a buddy put a suspension lift on his 2nd gen 2500.
That kit was a Dick Cepek 6". Probably the best suspension lift I've ever seen, allows more suspension travel than anything out there I've ever seen, anyway.
I know they make the kit for 3rd gen 2500's also, basically the same except some minor changes, specs are the same though. It ain't cheap, but if you want one of, if not the best one out there for some serious off-roading, look into it. I've got a link to where he got his kit if you want to check it out, it's on my desktop PC, I'm on the laptop, but I'll get it , just let me know...

I love it, I was **** because I had only done body lifts to my trucks before (3 of 'em total), bugged a good two dozen guys with lifted trucks (mostly in my hunting club in south Ga.) to drive theirs and asked a zillion questions. Their trucks were not always Dodge's, of course, but it still let me get a feel for the kit. Because I'd never go bigger than 35's on an IFS front end (not an issue for you though, you don't have CV's) the 4" kit was plenty and seemed to handle a little better, I don't think it's that Rancho is just that much better than the other's but I think the 2" lower center of gravity just made it feel a little more centered turning off road.
I didn't go to my Desktop, but did a search and found it and it's the place he got his about five years ago. Only problem is I was mistaken, it's only for the 2nd gens. The difference was they changed the truck slightly from '00 to '02 and there are two kits for the 2nd gens, one for the '94-'99 and one for the '00-'02. Here's a link anyway, like I said, won't do you any good, but it's still good reading.
I've been in an '05 Power Wagon with the Rancho 4", it was sweet as hell, they make one for the non-power wagons as well, give you a link to that one too:

Id say for off roading in the desert for goin fast get carli suspension or kore suspension. These kits are really really expensive but their the best. Oh and by the way its a suspension kit NOT a lift. It does lift the truck about 4 inches but its main purpose is to get way more suspension travel. Youtube carli suspension and you'll find a megacab getting 8ft of air out in the dunes. But the springs are all progressive and It has all the hydralic bump stops, It is way overkill for everday people but knowing your truck can do 80mph over 4ft whoops and get 8ft of air is pretty cool.

How's the Rancho 4 incher treating you?
