I am installing an accesory in my 2003 ram. I am using a relay. I need a wire that is only hot when the engine is RUNNING and only when the engine is RUNNING! Can anyone help? Oh, i need a general location of the wire too,and a color. If i mess this up i will damage the RAM and i will be sad. TY

 

Go to your fuse block and tap off a fuse that is only hot when the ignition is on and that the fuse meets your load requirement. I would even put another fuse inline just to be redundent. But I guess that would be ignition on, not necessarily running. You can always go off the alt. positive cable and just inline fuse it, since the alt. is only juicing when running. I am sure someone else would be able to answer more definatly though.

 

The cig lighter is only hot when the keys are in and turned forward. I don't know if that would help or not.
