Engine codes please help!!
i have 2003 dodge ram 5.7 and i have have 3 codes coming up. P0132, P2175, P2106. i checked the sticky and only the code p0132 is there which is a o2 sensor. please if you know the other two codes let me know. my truck hesitates sometimes if i am driving around town. if i press the gas the truck doesnt move much but when im on the highway it runs with no problem. it doesnt do it all the time but i would like to fix this problem. the truck only has 61,000 miles. if anyone could please help me it would be greatly appreciated thanks!!
P2175 is a common one, it's low air flow detected at the throttle body actuator. Clean the throttle body! I bet it so gunked up you can't even see in there. Do a search on here if you don't know how, there are probably hundreds of posts and I'm sure a DIY on it.
P2106 is that the truck is going into "limp mode" I'm sure because it's being told it's not getting enough air flow.
If cleaning the throttle body alone does not fix the codes, it's probably been gunked up for so long the MAP Sensor is shot. Replace it, a simple plug-in and only about $20 at the dealer...

On the 5.7 you have to take off the Throttle body to clean it. I just did mine a couple weeks ago and used brake cleaner. I wouldnt recommened spraying brake cleaner directly on it, just spray it on a clean rag and clean it that way. While you have the throttle body off clean ur intake also. Make sure u disconnect the battery to.
Yep, disconect the TB but NEVER spray it with the brake cleaner.
It will potentially damage the electronics at the end of it if the solvent seeps into the enclosed end where the electrics plug into.
Do as Stunnerguy suggests and spray onto a rag and then take the rag to the TB.
Also if it's a little stubborn, use a soft bristled tooth brush to remove the crud build up whilst the solvent is still on the TB blades from the rag.
I always have the electronics end held upper most, so the solent cannot get into the TB.
After you re-install your TB and have cleaned out the entire air intake tubing and re-oiled your K&N/new air filter etc, calibrate your TB.
You do this by connecting eveything back up with the electrics included. Then, switch your truck to the ignition on position, the one before you engage the starter.
Wait for all the dings to stop, then press your gas pedal making sure there are no floor mats underneath to screw the calibration up, all the way to the floor.
Do this 5 times in 1 second pumps, on/off etc.
Your TB is then re-calibrated.
Switch the truck off, then restart and turn the engine over.
If your TB was full of crud, you will notice a MUCH smoother idle and throttle response.
Oh yes, I cant remember if you need to buckle the drivers seatbelt in place, when you calibrate the TB.
I'd do it just to make sure, as I do know it needs to be in place when you do a PCM re-set on an 03.
Hope this helps? It did on my truck.
