'03 Ram 2500 2WD Leveling Kit ???'s.
I'm a little confused about options for leveling out the stance on my '03 2500 2WD Ram.
The truck is stone stock right now, with the original tires, which now need to be replaced. As I'm shopping for new tires, I figured this would be a good time to get the front end raised up a bit (I've never really liked the nose-down attitude of this truck).
Anyway, I'm not ready to spend the big bucks for new spindles, so my options appear to be limited to coil spacers. (something like a Daystar setup).
I previously owned a 2WD Dakota, and used the same technique to raise the front end up. I did that installation myself, but I'm older, smarter, and safer now, and would prefer to have a professional shop do the installation on the 2500 Ram.
If I order a 2" spacer, how much "lift" will I actually gain? Based on the geometry of the control arms, I can see that it would theoretically be more than 2" of lift for a 2" spacer. I would like to gain the maximum amount of height possible without changing any other suspension parts. How much added height will the stock shocks tolerate before causing problems by "topping out"? Are there any other issues I should watch for?
Also, if anyone knows of a reputable shop in the StLouis, MO area to do this kind of installation, buy new tires, and get an alignment, your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
SteveM.
