Default 2004 Power Steering issues

Has anyone else had continuous issues with their power steering? I bought my 2004 used with 30,000 miles on it and replaced a p/s hose at about 32,000, a p/s switch at about the same mileage and now i have to replace a rack and pinnion in the truck because it pulls to the right while driving. This is the third time it's been in for a power steering problem, starting to get alittle aggravated seeing that my reapir bill is going to exceed $1,000 with an alternator. Is this issue original to the 2004 models?

When the hose blew it could have caused the switch to fail. Did you try getting an alignment before resorting to replacing the rack?

The reason i thought it was pulling to the right was because i hit a wall in the winter when i slid off the road. but my mechanic says the reason it pulls is because the left side rack is slowly leaking and will eventually have to be replaced.

I'm worried about my P/S and Rack as well...I heard they are a weak spot on our Ram's and I'm wondering if I could get this covered under 7/70 Warr somehow.

I just bought my 2004 Hemi a month ago, totally freaking love it, just trying to keep an eye on my Rack and Rear Diff.

Good luck to you, bro.

I had a bad pull to the right ... I took my 04 into a Belle Tire, who does alot of work for a buddy of mine and they said both tie rods were bad... the crooks replaced the tie rods when all it needed was a tire... I rotated them and the pull came bac so I measured the height of the tire and the one on the right was shorter than the left which in turn made it pull... two new tires on the front and the thing still drives like day one... and I have 70k on it now....

well $1100 later everything is straightened out and the new alternator makes it sound like a totally different truck. i am also wondering if my extended warrenty will cover it even though i didnt take it to the dealer.

I have the a pull to the right problem as well. Did the $1100 you spent cover the new rack and alternator?

I'm also curious how do you know if the rack is leaking to one side?
