Default p0440, need help

can someone answer this in english for me, google sucks. what's the fix for it? thanks for any help.

P0440-GENERAL EVAP SYSTEM FAILURE . . . .9-469
You have a BIG vacuum leak somewhere. Could be your gas cap, also could be the hoses to and from the charchol canister under the truck--drivers side. The solenoid for it is up front drivers side. If any of the hoses are questionable at all, replace them for the vacuum canister---seen this post many times before---I'm doing mine before winter this year.

so basically it doesn't point to one particular thing, guess i'll start with the hoses.
