I am considering purchasing the mopar borla system and find someone to custom bend straight pipes to make it a rear exit exhaust. I've checked with some guys who custom build exhaust and they said it would be possible but expensive. Is this a bad idea? What drawbacks could there be from doing this? Does anyone have a borla system and have any feedback about it? has anyone seen this system for less than 560.00 with shipping?

ChromeHemi,
$560 sounds like a lot of money for a Borla system just out of the catalog. All you get is a muffler and some 304 stainless pipe, any custom exhaust shop can fab up that system. Don't cut out y pipe
behind cats, don't replace cats they're high flows already, just install single in /dual out muffler w/2/1/2"
pipe and have the tail pipes run over the rear axle, a set up like that here in Michigan runs about $485
installed. If you also put on a cold air intake, which most people do in conjunction with the exhausts, you will lose a little low end torque and probably have to get a power tuner. Hypertech 3 #50013 at least you will get a little better gas mileage 2-5 mpg. I did anyway. I also should warn you it will be louder when you put on exhaust and cold air kit. Check out the kit from Volant it's an enclosed box and it looks the nicest .I've already done this to my truck, hope this helps avoid some of the mistakes I made.
later man..........
