Default Oil pressure problems at startup

So i recently isntalled a flowmaster 40 series muffler right where the y pipe goes into one. and ever since the odd time i start the truck the oil pressure guage doesnt appear to want to work in the dash. and the check guages light comes on. then all i got to do is restart the truck and it works. no wait time nothing jsut restart it and bam working. no noises, full of oil. Not sure exactly what is going on but like i said jsut started when i isntalled exhuast. SO i am wondering if its the sensor or the guages?? But after you have ahd it running it will start back up and work fine, just over hours of siting it does this. Kinda annoying to have to do all the time people look at you wondering why this shiny new truck needs to be restarted. ITs an 04 QC laramie 5,7 hemi, 4x4, fully loaded.

if anyone has the same issue or knows what my problem is please feel free to give advice cause its starting to get annoying and dont really want to pay a dealership to look at it. I just recently got the truck as well and i can fix whats wrong jsut need to figure out whats wrong haha,...

thanks for your help!

Are the filters on these trucks supposed to have a anti drainback valve in them? Might just be a oil filter?

I am not sure really like i said i am new to the dodge truck world, and by what ir ead all over it possible sounds like a bad sending unit, but its wierd it started after i isntalled the exhaust. Mabye i will do an oil change and see what happens from there. I put some lucas in it this weekend as well thought mabye it would help clean it out a bit. like i have a scanner and everything i am an apprentice mechanic just not familiar with dodge trucks so dont really know enough about them to know why its doing it.

If it was my truck I'd try to reproduce the problem with a manual oil pressure gauge screwed in where the sending unit goes to make sure it's not starving for oil before I went any futher.

umm where about is the sending unit located? Mabye the plug just came loose or something?

And i read your thread but mine doesnt ever drop while driving just at startup it doesnt kick on and i have left it for a while and didnt make any noise or nothing so it cant be actually starving of oil or it would make **** loads of noise and be toast real quick.
