I'm running Mobil1 synthetic (which I failed to mention, previously). Thanks for all your help. My truck has extended warranty and service. But they charge me, for synthetic. That adds up if you're getting it changed every 2k miles. It didn't sound right to me. I had been told 6k miles, as a rule of thumb, for synthetic.

Yeah I think now they only have one service schedule. I did my first oil change at 3k and put Mobil 1 in it. I'm going to do the next one at 6k, then every 6k after that. I want to stick to the service schedule so they have no outs if I ever have to make a warranty claim (I have the Lifetime Powertrain and I bought the Lifetime Extended). For only $40 in oil and another $7 or so for a filter, it's a relatively inexpensive thing to do.

I'm planning on doing the first at 3K, and then every one after at 6K

I'm coming up on the firs oil change (3K). I have always used dino oil with an oci of 3K. I think I'm going to use dino oil for the first oil change and switch to synthetic at the 6K point. I rotate my tires every 6K and I can do the oil change and tire rotation every 6K.

I use Agip PC Synthetic, its about $7.16 a qt delivered to my front door. I use a mobil 1 oil filter because I havent seen anything better for that price. It filters down to a nominal 10 microns. I got 8k between changes but Blackstone labs states I could go for 13-14k. I am also out of my warranty so if your still in warranty, go 6k with synthetic. Just remember most oil filters will fail my friends, not the oil.

Interesting the 08s say that. Is the recommend oil syn in the manual? If so that would explain the difference.
