Mopar is the way to go simply because of the "Secure Key" function, and the fact that you get two Key fobs(hey there at least $50 a piece even on Ebay). Dislike the size of the "Secure Key" and would really hate another big dangly thing hanging from my key chain.

Thumbs up Update

Had the Mopar remote start installed over winter at the dealership. Installation seemed to go smoothly and the remote start works like it should. It came with two separate remote starter controls. Truck runs for 10 minutes and then will shut off if keys aren’t in ignition. It ended up costing a little more than the original quote, but overall I’m glad I went with the factory unit to have piece of mind.

Good mod.

I did some searching the OEM one I had installed for $300, aftermarket installs were closer to $600 for a security/remote start. I couldn't find just a remote start. I like the idea of the OEM that just "plugs-in" for the '08. Talking to my brother who works at a dealership in NE said it was a very easy and plug-and-go install for an 08, basically they are pre-wired for it.

Go to AutoAlarmpro.com...I'm 18 and I installed it myself with the directions they provided. They offer a variety of remote start/alarm packages for decent prices; well worth the money and you feel like you accomplished something

I just found the factory kit on craigslist for my 04 and love it. It is almost plug and play. I did have to run 1 wire up to the motor, 1 to my headlight switch, and 1 above the brake pedal. I left the hood switch off, as well as the horn honk. I had to buy the Sentry key module, but that cost as much as I paid for the used kit.

I was concerned about having an extra remote, but it's tiny and I barely notice it. I went factory because the local car audio place was having a $199 sale, but it was going to be $400 after they added the aftermarket sentry interface and something to make the door locks work. I lucked out and got this for under $100 total.

Yeah I bought a Clifford 50.7x alarm/remote start combo off Ebay for 250 shipped and was BNIB. I installed it myself over a weekend and works great. $350 for JUST remote start is crazy.

The factory remote start replaces your key, it adds a button to the fob portion that is the "start" button. It looks like you ordered it that way when complete. Not some spliced in/extra remote this is why I went with the factory, I find the range is very good and no complaints yet. - Only 1 wish I would have done it sooner!
