... hey guys, lots of questions so thought would answer them all in one post. Here goes:
1. The only "customizing" we do is lazer etching ... and it's pricey because done one at a time - by the time we get image in proper format, get door over to engraver, and engrave does his "set up" (with fee) it's a lot of labor and set up charge for one door . We've done it for runs of 100 or more, but one at a time is probably a non-starter;
2. Paint - if you want to paint your door, order the "high polish" version. This is a raw aluminum door so you won't have to remove powdercoat or anodizing. You will have to "rough up" the finish a little to take paint of course. We do not custom paint the doors.
3. We ship to Canada for same price, but instead of "priority mail" it goes regular post. About one week transit time on that.
4. Yes we listed for awhile on ebay ... price identical to what we have on our web site. We are letting our current ebay listings expire, but may put more of them over there later. If we do that, price will still remain identical to what's on our own web site.
5. "High Polish" finish - again this a beautifully finished door just shy of chrome bright. It is "raw" however, so it requires maintenance. Occasional buffing and waxing.
6. Chrome - we only offer chrome for the F-150 door, and that is chrome over plastic. No corrosion issues with that, nearly impervious to weather. However, chrome over aluminum (because aluminum is porous) creates lots of issues that are very expensive to address properly. A chrome door done in volume would approach $175 so we've decided not to do it. I encourage you to look at the "high polish" as a reasonable alternative.
7. Made in USA - yes! We are located in Irvine (Orange County) California, and all our vendors are within 20 miles of our location. We have a license from AMP Research to use their patented hinge technology. AMP came up with the cam and plunger design used first on the Eclipse. They have turned over after market and accessory market production to Solid By Design. Bernhard Leitner (one of our principals) is the son of AMP founder and owner Horst Leitner. Good pedigree if you are familiar with the industry.
Thanks for looking.

Hey i go tmy fuel door in three days from the day i ordered it!! Clean and washed my truck and waxed and put it on. I just had to massage the holes a little bit so it would sit 'square' in the opening! looks great especially with my rims!

Solid By Design,
The doors look great, but do you have lockable doors? With the price of fuel these days, I'd like to be able to keep the gas under lock and key and have it look good at the same time.

Sorry, no locking version ... and no plans for one. We strongly suggest if you have real concerns abut fuel theft that you purchase a locking gas cap, something that provides real protection. Our fuel door is compatible with any factory or after market version.

Got mine on the truck today, the brushed aluminum lookes great on a black truck. Had a hell of a time getting the stock bolts to unscrew.

Mine arrived this past Saturday and I really like the way it looks. I did have to Dremel a little bit off the plastic insert that the fuel filler bolts to for one of the nuts but other than that (and as headoftheholler stated...getting the factory bolts off) the whole install went pretty smoothly.

I just ordered a black one. hopefully it looks good. I dont want my chrome one on for the winter, so I thought I would go with a black one for winter. ill put up pics when I get it
