You are nuts putting a inferior coat on a very tough chrome finish.

I used Duplicolor on the rocker panels of my 2500. After three years and 50,000+ miles of highway and 500 miles of gravel hunting roads I only had one chip. The key is in the prep and final application. I sanded and wiped with denatured alcohol twice, then a final wipe with Xylene. I applied three light coats spaced 1hr apart. Any heavy coats will chip as the underlying material won't cure properly. I just traded in my 2500 diesel for a 1500 Hemi and will be doing the same thing to this truck as well.
